Welcome to the Montgomery Library!

The Montgomery Library serves the Marguerite Montgomery Elementary School community. Our mission and goal is access to information and to support the freedom to read for all students. We have an extensive book collection of literary and informational text in English and Spanish. Our library program provides weekly classes and check out times for all students. Our students learn about the organization of the library, how to be good library users, and to find a "good fit" book for themselves. We study authors, genres, and award winning books, such as the Newbery , Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, Pura Belpre, and Schneider Family Book Award medal winners and honors. All students also participate in the California Young Reader Medal program by reading and voting in different categories every year. We celebrate Read Across America Day with school-wide activities, host an annual author visit, and hold the Battle of the Books in May for all 4th through 6th grade students. Twice each year we host the Scholastic Book Fair, and through the generosity of our PTA, we benefit from the proceeds.

We look forward to seeing you in our library!
